““The reasons why most people can’t do magic? Well.” Eliot held up a long, thin finger. “One, it’s very hard, and they’re not smart enough. Two, it’s very hard, and they’re not obsessive and miserable enough to do all the work you have to do to do it right. Three, they lack the guidance and mentorship provided by the dedicated and startlingly charismatic faculty of the Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. And four, they lack the tough, starchy moral fiber necessary to wield awesome magical energies calmly and responsibly. “And five"—he stuck up his thumb—"some people have all that stuff and they still can’t do it. Nobody knows why. They say the words, wave their arms, and nothing happens. Poor bastards. But that’s not us. We’re the lucky ones. We have it, whatever it is.” “I don’t know if I have the moral fiber one.” “I don’t either. I think that one’s optional, actually.””

New concept: July is self-improvement month
Find some friends and start checking up on each other to monitor and help each other through your self-improvement.
Of course, you don’t have to wait until July to do it. But I think having a month when everybody is doing it simultaneously and checking up on each other would do good for everybody.
Feel free to reblog if you support the idea.
“Not all toxic people are cruel and uncaring. Some of them love us dearly. Many of them have good intentions. Most are simply toxic to our being simply because their needs and way of existing force us to compromise ourselves and our happiness. They aren’t inherently bad people, but they aren’t the right people for us”
— Daniell Koepke
“You know all those things you’ve always wanted to do? You should go do them.”
— E.J. Lamprey
“Let them judge you. Let them misunderstand you. Let them gossip about you. Their opinions aren’t your problems. You stay kind, committed to love and free in your authenticity. No matter what they do or say, don’t you doubt your worth or the beauty of your truth. Just keep shining like you always do.”
